Reading is fundamental! Do not say you wanna be in the music business and then say you don't read much! Your time in the industry will be short lived because as it says in Hosea 4:6, "my people perish for the lack of knowledge"!
With that being said...now that you have been motivated to cracking open a book, may I suggest "These Beats Ain't Free" by PRODUCER @J_RHODES! I have read a few books on the music industry but this is the first I have ever read that spoke from a truly practical, not now but right now, perspective as a producer for producers! It really proposes and answers the question "how do I turn my passion into a paycheck". He speaks from experience and I was so moved by the book's content that I am ordering an entire class set for my audio production classes at Pearl-Cohn entertainment magnet high school!
At right around 100 or so pages you can finish it in one day and IMMEDIATELY begin to put his advice into practice. So cop the book..plan your work and work your plan and remember respect yourself and your craft and tell any artist leech type: #thesebeatsaintfree
